25th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution
Philippine Embassy
personnel and members of the Filipino Community in Iran commemorated
the 25th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution
on 25 February 2011 at the Embassy Chancery.
In attendance were the
officers and staff of the Embassy, who wore yellow outfit and
officers and members of the Filipino community in Tehran.

The activities started at
8:00 with the flag raising ceremony, singing of the Philippine
national anthem and pledge of allegiance to the Filipino flag
through the “Panunumpa sa Watawat”.
Charge d’ Affaires
Mariano A. Dumia gave his welcome remarks and read the message of
H.E. President Benigno S. Aquino III, while Minister and Consul
General Rosario Lemque read the message of Foreign Affairs Secretary
Alberto G. Romulo.

Administrative Officer
Mipantao A. Sarip delivered a piece, entitled: “Synopsis of the
Historical Background of the EDSA People Power Revolution, where he
summarized the events that took place before, during and after the
people’s four-day bloodless revolution that ended the two decades of
the Marcos regime; the restoration of freedom and democracy and the
installation of Mrs. Corazon C. Aquino, as President. Mr. Sarip also
read the message of President Aquino on the on-going peace process
between the Philippine Government and the MILF and the CCP-NPA-NDF.
A breakfast of Filipino
foods was served for the officers and members of the Filipino
community and embassy personnel. The breakfast signified the
Filipinos' spirit of camaraderie and sharing during the four-day
peaceful EDSA revolution in February 1986.
The celebration
was covered by the Tehran Times International Daily, which
published an article entitled: Philippine Embassy Celebrates
“People Power Revolution” in its 26 February 2011 issue.
